Observation details
Wow. Hard to believe I'm looking at what I am looking at. A full adult male black-throated gray warbler. Singing intermittently and fairly quietly. This doesn't fit neatly in the vagrancy boxes for me. Monochromatic black and white warbler with broad white supercillium. Throat black. White below with black streaking on flanks. Gray above with two bold white wing bars. Yellow loral spot. White tail spots. Black crown. I tried to get a recording of the song, but there's a lot of other birds making a lot of noise here. Ascending buzzy song. Found where the trail splits around some eucalyptus to make an island just south of the cul-de-sac parking.
