Observation details
🔴 **Rare migrant. Within window of movement and a low density migrant across the east (two individuals in Suffolk Co. earlier this week). We found it very amusing that we had just come down out of the Adirondacks for the flamingo, etc. and ended up with this bird (an exclusively Adirondack breeder in the state). As we were in the car (parked parallel to the brush edge), about to leave, will spotted something emerge from above the shrubbery ahead in a flycatching sally. We pulled forward and had a clear view of the bird catch a large dragonfly right above and in front of the car. We then backed off the shrub edge and were able to see the bird very well perched in the top of a dead pine. It only made one more sally and then preened in the shade of a branch until we left. Large flycatcher (pewee) with crested appearance. Initial perched view gave full look at dark gray/olive vests and clean white throat and stripe through center of underside. It then faced away and began preening, fully revealing the white patches along the sides of the rump. Phenomenal views! Photos. Seen around southeast corner of parking area: 40.6109774, -73.4406668
