Observation details
Spotted by leader Daniel Irons just before 12:40 and called out from the top deck. This bird came by at a distance and flew away. It was a small gadfly petrel with grayish upper parts lacking the large, white uppertail of a Black-capped Petrel, and the shape also was different - more chesty and longer tailed. The hooded appearance, small bill and bold leading edge to the underwing also pointed to a Cahow. This bird was in primary molt and also had a bit of a white collar. Photos
