Observation details
Wow!!!!!!! Initially heard one singing from the marsh area near sabattis circle bridge when we first stepped out the car. Eventually saw it and watched it throw its neck singing. While this bird was singing, a pair picked up from the marsh and chased each other for 2 minutes in circles around the marsh. An amazing video obtained of these birds in sustained flight around the marsh! Truly a rare sighting to see them for that long in flight. I’m not sure if it was a male bittern attempting to follow a female, or what exactly the behavior was, so I’m sticking with breeding code P. The initial bittern eventually picked up and flew in the vicinity of the other two which landed further out in the marsh.
