First-winter Ivory Gull discovered in the Grand Marais harbor, Cook County, MN 1/14/1990. About the ninth state record; found by Peder H. Svingen, Susan C. Barton and Lee Rogers, and seen by Walter Popp, Tim Webb, and two anonymous passersby before the bird took flight and never returned. See Loon 62:3-4.
