Observation details
Watched it for about half an hour as it didn’t look right for a Northern Shrike. It flew down from the phone line to the ditch across the road three times and came back with food each time. It looked chunky with a big mask that went over the bill. I couldn't see any fine streaking on the breast like Northern Shrikes usually have, although those could be worn off at this time of year. (I finally looked at the photos tonight--June 2--and asked Melissa Hafting for a second opinion--thanks Mel)
