Observation details
In far east basin with tamarisk, willows and cottonwood. At the time I assumed it was a California, given the habitat and general appearance and the fact that this species had been reported in the area, but in looking at the photos at home I am unsure. I suspect it is an immature bird. It appears too dark to be a LeContes, plus it wasn't in the right habitat, but the crissum is washed with buff rather than the more extensive reddish-brown of a California. Perhaps that is indicative of a recently fledged California?
