Observation details
Immature with Greater Sand Plovers (GPS). Watched for more than 40 minutes at 35-80m. Slender, long legged plover. Legs pale yellowish/greenish in strong light, paler and noticeably longer than the GPS. Black slender, pointed bill, distinctly finer than accompanying GPS. Back plain, uniform brown that appeared fractionally darker than the GPS. Belly and undertail clean white. Crown light brown highlighted by white supercilium. Darker markings on the head restricted to the area immediately in front and behind the eye. Otherwise ear coverts, throat and nape very pale/white. The breast appeared light brown/light grey in strong light. In some photographers images redder tone visible on this immature. In flight toes extended beyond the tail tip. Upper and under wings brown, with only a very slight impression of a wing bar. The accompanying photographs show the above details.
