One badass bird! Honestly, I’m a bit surprised this isn’t popping as rare.. Only a couple reports of this species each year in county. My 3rd overall; first during spring. Insane looks at this guy as I watched out my upstairs window and off back deck. No vocals, but actively hunting. Flew out and over yard and back 8-10 times, and back to same conspicuous dead snag with bumble bees and once with a larger dragonfly/damslefly. Had an OSFL in same dead snag Aug. 27, 2023. Larger flycatcher with short tail; prominent dark vest clearly seen in photos. Incredible experience!
