Observation details
Completely black head already on at least one bird, whereas all Black-headed Gulls still have mostly while head. I think two other Saunder's with still mostly white heads (certainly at least one photographed). Short black bills, limited black spots in mostly white tips of primaries above, limited black on undersides of wingtips. After staring at several thousand Black-headed Gulls this month looking for this species I was surprised how immediately obvious the difference in call was. I heard a few of them before seeing them and could tell they were something else.
