Observation details
Adult male, mile 7.5 McCarthy Road near Chitina at Kuskulana BBS survey point #13 (N 61.52061, E -144.27070). It was singing at the same spot the next day. Chunky, shy, skulking warbler with yellow underparts, greenish yellow mantle, striking slate gray hood with blackish patch below chin, black lores, and bold discontinuous white eye ring forming crescents. Unable to get a photograph of this shy, elusive bird but recorded the song. Song compares closely to birds from BC and other locations in Pacific NW. This individual sang frequently and was rather invariant, though the concluding sharp "chit" notes were occasionally given singly or in threes.
