Observation details
***Continuing 🔴 Rarity: Another Great find by Jay McGowan in as many days. Non- breeding plumage individual. Long bodied, shorter necked and thinner dagger like gray bill. Dark gray backed with some limited white scaling appearing. Rounded head upon stout neck with this being the darkest area along back of nape. Sharp demarcation of contrasting white throat with neck apparent, as was dark, dusky chin strap. Constantly diving for small fish most likely salmon or trout fingerlings. But gave many inactive moments of preening and pause. One highlight we saw was an apparent territorial dispute behavior with nearby Common Loon. With the PALO seemingly the aggressor. WOW!! So Awesome!! State Bird. Photos TBA.
