Media notes
somewhere along the trail, I heard what sounded like alarm calls and Merlin said it was a HOWR. This jay was nearby and I am wondering if it was raiding the wrens' nest. When I first saw it, it was eating something but I couldn't see what it was.
Observation details
Watched a pair building a nest together in the picnic area. and got a nice long video showing one working on the nest, then the other one flying in and they switch places. One MEJA at parking lot has obviously been fed and flies right up to you expecting food. I was told that it bites. It looks adult size and has black bill but it still has the pinkish edging at the base of its bill. I was told that it's probably an immature so have listed as such.
