Observation details
Possible common yellowthroat x mourning warbler hybrid. Second year in a row seen/heard singing in same location near Dead River observation deck. Full yellow throat, weak dark grey mask without a pale/whitish border above and only slightly darker than rest of hood. Song was a repeated/rolling “teedle teedle” melody of a mourning warbler but tempo of yellowthroat. Mostly resembles young male COYE but given this is second-year bird seen and heard in same location suggesting a hybrid. Poor iPhone photos and sound recording attached.
