Observation details
First discovered by Jake Xia on May 12. Over the 3 hours during our visit we had multiple viewing opportunities as it foraged actively in the sycamores, oaks and occasionally the pines on both sides of the creek. Earlier in the day it remained mostly very high in the canopy and afforded mostly fleeting glimpses. Towards the end of our visit we had our best views as it came down low and provided clear open views in excellent lighting conditions for the smaller group of us that remained. The colorful and striking warbler was noticeably sharp faced looking with a pointy bill and short tailed. The upper parts were bluish with green back and bright white wing-bars. The head was blue with a blackish face and lacked white arcs or features of the Northern. The underparts were intense yellow with diffuse orange wash on the chest. The back end of the underparts was clear unmarked white. Derek obtained excellent photos and I will post a couple challenging digibins as place holders.
