Observation details
Swifts in aerial courtship display. Appeared to copulate in flight then tumbled, locked together, until they released. NOTE: Researchers do not know definitively if mating takes place while flying. The entire sequence took less than 2 seconds. Photographed at 1/4000 sec, at f9, ISO 1250.
