Observation details
Unique looking bird seen and heard at (37.9111012, -122.2487113), confirmed as a hybrid on 5/28/24, based on feedback from experts. Mostly lacking orange wash on the breast, with a thinner / patchier upper wing bar than usual and no lower wing bar, more extensive blue edging to coverts and tertials, a darker aquamarine/indigo blue tint to face (vs turquoise-sky blue), and a patchy blue border to the breast (extending down the bird's right side). The coloration was also asymmetrical, with the right side looking more abnormal than its left side. Song sounded like a standard LAZB to my ear - see attached sound file (louder song in the audio is from the same individual as in the photos). Audio includes 2 counter-singing males - first a more distant LAZB male, then a louder song from the bird in the photos, beginning at about 6 seconds and continuing for the rest of the recording (with a few more songs from the more distant bird).
