Media notes
Spotted Sandpiper was poking around in the mud of an unattended Red-necked Grebe nest. Mama was nearby foraging and eventually chased off the SPSA.
Observation details
Parent bird was on the nest when I first arrived and later the two eggs were exposed as it took a break, without any parental sharing of nesting duties evident. A Spotted Sandpiper was poking around in the muddy nesting material, but the parent bird eventually chased it off, but still left the two eggs unattended.
