Observation details
Heard an unusual brief song that actually didn’t quite fit any of the mourning songs I could find on warbler guide or Merlin yet was called as a mourning by merlin on 1 of 2 recordings. The song had a ‘churry’ quality but was odd based on brevity, usually giving 2, max 3 phrases at a time and no additional section of song - best fitting B type on warbler guide. Audio attached. Of course the bird went silent as I thought about how I’d be late to work with just a warbler sp on my list, but five minutes later I saw a small bird skulking in the one opening of the thick brush I could find and sure enough saw a gray headed individual with bright yellow belly and dark neck band. Personal patch bird and a favorite bird. First time finding one myself woohoo
