Observation details
Seen with 4 Bar-tailed Godwits on arrival on edge of small channel below Haysmouth Parade just 150 m from boat ramp. Got it in scope for about 30 seconds, when group spooked by Whistling Kite and headed rapidly towards Brisbane side. Thankfully they had wheeled back by the time Michael Wu arrived and we found them by the main channel (also seen by John O'Shea). Smaller and darker than accompanying Barwits, which occasionally chased the Hudwit, revealing black underwing coverts and axillaries, white rump and black tail. Supercilium bulging above eye most noticeable is front on view. Bill slightly upturned. Evidence photos were taken from much further away than when I first saw it, which is a shame. Lifer! Thanks Andy Jensen for original find at Gregory Rd.
