Media notes
Yellow wash on the undertail coverts and the spots under the tail is caused by sunlight reflected off nearby green leaves.
Observation details
First reported earlier this morning by Nick Lethaby at the parking area beyond the third creek crossing (approximately 1.9 miles up the road from Hwy 101) near here: (34.4922863, -120.0660049). This was a slender, long-tailed bird with a curved bill that was yellow underneath and black on top. It was brown above and white below, with rufous primaries, and large contrasting white tail spots. The rufous wing flash was especially obvious in flight. Song was a rapid "ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka-kow-kow-kowp, kowp, kowp, kowp", slowing down at the end.
