Observation details
highlight of the day probably! after seeing the bald eagle I suddenly heard 3 loud low calls coming not far away and saw the pileated woodpecker adult male foraging low on some trees on south side of ci north point!! first time seeing it foraging up close, very cool. extracting wood first making a large deep hole at one of the bends of the main limbs of the tree, then poking its head it and picking out ants probably stayed in that position for at leasst 5 mins, first set of photos. moved around couple of times in different positions, only unfortunately theres too much sunlight and contrast. a cloudy day wouldve been good. it then flew up to higher branches but still in the same area and got some nice videos there too. got audio of it knocking on the branch for foraging (technically it counts as sound right?). haven't seen one around ci before
