Observation details
Best bird of the day. Singing and calling. Was singing continuously. Also was giving a call I have never heard before, not the clucks, flight calls or alarm calls. Got a recording of it here. This is an exciting observation as this is probably a migratory HETH selvini subspecies returning to its breeding ground from Western Mexico, per observed by Paules Nelson et al. 202. It was obviously holding territory. Alex Rinkert has had them in the same location in June since 2010.Really cool to see this possible subspecies at its southern extralimital range and the chain migration of HETH. Different than our wintering birds. This bird was very shy but a did get a few glimpses of it and it appeared small and light colored. Never observed the bill size.
