Observation details
Continuing at this location. It first emerged just before 9:00, and was intermittently visible throughout the rest of my visit. For an extended period of time we watched it sit atop some cattails, seemingly sunning itself. It caught a frog at one point, and it seemed very interested in peeling back the layers of some large reeds (maybe cattails?). Emmett and others thought it might have been eating some tasty invertebrate within. My views today were much better than my views on Sunday, and the bird was generally more confiding. We are very lucky to have it here.
