Observation details

Recordings to attach. About 100/150ft east along the trail from the parking lot. Listened to it singing for 15 to 20 minutes, with periods of silence between songs lasting between two to three minutes, while I tried to get a look. Singing coming from low in the waist high grass in an area with several five to eight foot tall shrubs. No great way to rule out mimicry from a European Starling or Northern Mockingbird other than to note lack of observed starlings during my time there (one flew over the parking lot heading west as I arrived), and the general infrequency on NOMO in Portage County. Unsure if escaped or released from a neighboring property, but the brushy grassland habitat here is consistent with this species.
