Nikon D5600, cropped. bird is carrying whelk mollusk to drop it, presumably to break it open - repeated this behavior 4 times while I watched.
Observation details
One immature bird repeatedly picked up a whelk mollusk, carried it to five or 10 m height, and dropped it on the beach, apparently trying to break it.
