Observation details
Continuing bird, discovered this year by Charles Baker - observed from Long Canyon Road in the vicinity of 33.657080, -117.448274. At the beginning of the count, this male and a female Lazuli Bunting seemed to be following one another, staying mostly in the oaks to the north of Long Canyon Road. As the morning progressed and the fog burned off, he started venturing out across the meadow on either side of the road, more loosely associated with the Lazulis there, occasionally perching on brush piles. Bright blue overall, with a dark tail, wings and lores, as well as a silver-gray bill. While the Lazulis were often singing, I never noticed the Indigo doing so, but I was able to track him by his frequent monosyllabic “pwik” calls.
