Northern Rough Winged Swallow has a nest in the tail pipe of this old school bus.
Observation details
Congratulations to Gary Harvey for finding this unusual nest, and kudos to Jonathan Irons for confirming it. I think I saw two flying, but not certain. Saw one bird fly into tail pipe and stay. Spoke with Carl Bartholomew, who works for the packing company. I asked him about the status of the school bus. He checked on it and told me that the engine is blown. The plans for the bus are to cut the top off and use it to haul watermelons, but that won't happen for a while. He explained that school buses are used to transport laborers from a nearby work camp to Virginia to pick crops. The bus is owned by a contractors in Somerset who transports the workers.
