Sleepy eyed (vs clown eye arc effect seen on Franklin’s)
Observation details
Medium sized, small headed, first summer (i think) gull. Worn and faded (light brown) coverts. Thick, all black bill, longer than a similar Franklin’s bill; white eye arcs look more “sleepy-eyed” than Franklin’s “clown eyes.” Dark smudges on head beginning to show hint of a hood; faded brown in worn wing feathers, and faded black towards tips of primaries; black tail (best seen in flight); and grey legs. Flew off to ENE out of sight soon after digiscoping.
