Observation details
*Rarely detected/identified migrant. Continuing near the Azalea Pond. Took a while to find it, but I eventually had incredible looks at this bird. At one point it was just a few feet off the walkway, too close to focus with binoculars! Slightly reddish wash to the upperparts was visible this close and in the generally good light, and the white tips to the wing coverts also help confirm it as the bird already seen by others earlier. Confirming it for myself wiith audio was complicated by a nearby GCTH that I heard singing first (and just the general noise in the park at this hour). Further, this bird tended to end its song on a descending note, but I believe that note was actually the note that is typically the middle note, and it just wasn't singing the full song with the flat/rising note. The song was slightly higher pitched than the GCTH in the area, and I did hear the BITH call note at one point as well. Lifer!
