Observation details
*Rare. Continuing bird found this morning by Brad Grover, found in the fluddle here: 42.2695154, -88.7108549. In mostly basic plumage but with alternate plumage body feathers coming in. A large gray shorebird overall with a long upturned pink based and black tipped bill, black legs, grayish head with bold white supercilium, back a black and gray with some golden speckles, and grayish body with deep rufous and black feathers coming in. When preening, I could see the white tail with a black tip. Eventually the godwit flapped its wings, and I could see they were all black on the underside. Photos.
