Observation details
Two singing males. I found the first bird along English Dr. on the straight section between the Giant Steps and English bridge. It sang frequently in thick brush along the road and moved around a fair bit initially. I caught glimpses of it until it hopped out onto the road under a bush. It stopped singing when more than 2-3 people were present. The second bird was found at the same time by Cody and Alison in the Archery field. It was much more accommodating and spent the time I was there oddly up high feeding in an oak. It sang but very softly, almost a whisper. I sent the audio to Jay Pitocchelli of Saint Anselm College who has studied Mourning Warblers for many years. He says the bird from English Dr. was singing the MO1 song type of the Eastern regiolect while the Archery Field bird was singing the MO18 song type of the Newfoundland regiolect. Record photos are of the Archery field bird.
