Observation details
We heard numerous birds singing as we walked the roadway. But Dennis found a bird with potential nesting material and when it flew, we saw the nest it had been on, just below the bridge (which spans the lake) and over 8-10 feet. It was difficult to see through the reedy plants, but after it flew we saw it had returned, though it may have done so surreptitiously, in that we did not see it fly in. The nest appeared to be totally made of green lichens, at least the part visible from above. Later, after we had walked to the far end of the bridge and returned, we could not re-find the nest. Photo shows the bird after it flew 40 or so feet to a willow growing in the water, relatively near the bridge.
