Observation details
Pair of Red-breasted Nuthatches have appeared in our yard almost daily this winter and last. This day only one was sighted. Distinct bird, small, active, buff to pink chest and sides. Clearly visible stripe through eye, with white above and black on top of the head. (Very different from pair of White-breasted Nuthatches common through the winter in our yard.) Honks heard frequently, including within a few feet of me when I feed the birds. They really like to feed on our Mr. Bird Flaming Hot Seed cylinders which include dried mealworms. RBNH frequently seen going DOWN trunks of trees in our yard. Frequent repeat feeder. These were gone by mid May. Photo from earlier date.
