Observation details
These bird initially confused me. They were difficult to see and there was only one the first day or two I saw it. On 5/20, a second bird had joined the first and I still had a hard time seeing them. Today, I had a cleared view and the fact that two were still sitting together raised the flag that these were in fact hatch year chicks. I was able to view them extensively and the one bird is smaller and younger than the other. It has a shorter tail and is quite puffy in appearance. It would sit on the branch and watch me, bobbing its head left and right and up and down as if to get a better look, it also shuffled along the branch a bit. The other bird slept most of the time, but eventually woke up and scratched it head (photos) and then yawned. The smaller bird flapped its wings a bit and dropped to the branch below and sat facing away from me. I left for half an hour and when I came back, they were sitting side by side again. Though I can't see any down on their heads, their behavior clearly indicates they are juvenile birds.
