Observation details
Lifer! This was such a cool and lucky surprise! Glad I can contribute to the rare sightings instead of just mooching off of everyone else haha. Pulled out Sibley's field guide to verify this bird while I had it in the scope. It matched the breeding female plumage, with a dark (not white) cap, tan (not gray) wings, dark undertail coverts and white shoulder, not going down the flanks, like in the Pacific golden plover. Sat there preening the whole time I was there, so I got good looks even though it was far. Will add terrible photos I took through the scope.
