Observation details
Great find by Bill DeLuca on May 19th. As others have described, observed from the overlook with the "Floodplain Forests of Bachelor Brook" sign, about a 1/2 north along the gravel path from the parking area. Not an easy bird to see, though perhaps my field companions and I were just unlucky. The bird appeared to work many circuits in front of the overlook before, thankfully, Sara Griesemer's sharp field skills spotted it in mid-canopy around 09:15am. Before that it was seen only very briefly but vocalized pretty much constantly giving a peculiar song that I wouldn't have recognized as a Prothonotary Warbler, despite having plenty of experience of the species elsewhere. A great learning experience and fun to see the Prothonotary settled in such a nice place!
