Observation details
This scarlet tanager stayed in a mulberry tree in our yard for two full days. He was eating the fruit and caterpillars that were on the tree. Very distinctive from our usual summer tanagers because of the black wings and much more vibrant red. Also very distinct from northern cardinals because of the black wings and no crest, as well as the much different beak shape and color.
