Observation details
The (unfortunate) recently cleared thickets helped me see that the Raven I was following had dive bombed a Thrasher nest. It might have made off with one of the fledglings; I was too focused on figuring out what all the racket was. I finally realized the adults were in a tree calling madly and a fledgling was on the ground - doing a great job, I might add, navigating through the fence line to get back nearer to its parents. I only know Thrasher songs; I’ve never heard this alarm call before. I thought animals might have been fighting at first. They were clearly in distress. But the chick made it back to the safety of the thicket - no thanks to all the mowing!
