Observation details
On flats NW (or north) of the overlook at the eastern end of Rabbit Island; obviously a golden-plover as it was standing near a BBPL so it’s smaller size and color (golden) were readily apparent; it’s long legs suggested Pacific Golden-Plover to me; it was in “ugly” transitional plumage so only patchy black present on underparts, although flanks appeared all whitish…; after just couple photographs it flew off calling (strongly whistled “tu-wheet” rising in pitch that I think is a better match for Pacific Golden-Plover) and headed toward Outer Bolsa Bay, but reversed course and flew over me, more or less, still calling, and heading down coast (south) where it circled, and appeared to land on beach near outlet of the Full Tidal Basin, maybe…; in flight the solidly colored upperparts obvious, but I failed to see if toes extended past tail tip…
