Observation details
Larger than a LEYE. not as large as GRYE; fairly long bill that slightly downturned at tip. Heavily barred breast and belly; pale superciliary line, small dark "post-ocular patch". Fed by walking randomly like yellowlegs, but instead of stopping to poke at something, did short repetitive "drilling" as dowitchers do. But Stilt Sandpiper doesn't maintain this drilling action like dowitchers.
