Observation details
Great re-find by Dean Ware around 1130AM at the entrance to HBCA! We got out shortly after hearing and cruised west on cty rd 50 from Erie up until the Meadows, from there we shot north to 20 to get to Gore rd. We filtered through many TUVUs up and down Gore Rd. From Gore rd just west of Ferris, i picked out 2 non-TUVUs to the north of us. We gunned to Ferris and booked it north to try and intercept. From this lists' pin i found them again - 2 Buteos. We immediately noted that one was noticeably larger than the other (which we quickly ID'd as a red-tail) with long, tapered wings, and could see an obviously white tail and obvious white flashes at the base of the primaries. Although the bird was quite high and far to the west, we could also occasionally make out the reddish on the upper-sides . The bird was very pale beneath. We were able to obtain poor pics. In the scramble to try and get the scope out and on the bird we ended up losing the FEHA somewhere in the tree line as it and its RTHA pal were staying just above the woodlot to the west.
