Observation details
*Rare*; Originally misidentified as a Bonaparte's Gull, before being correctly identified by Trevor MacLaurin. Fortunately, we took pictures of it as Bonaparte's are flagged in Accomack County at this time. We saw one of the birds (the one without the complete hood), but found the second individual later as we went through Ezra's photos. Tiny gulls, just smaller than the nearby Forster’s Terns. Very elongate shape, delicate, thin black bill. One bird had the outline of its entire hood but white on the forehead and between the eyes. The other had a white head other than the dark spots behind its eyes and the faint black patch on the top of its head.
