Observation details
Continuing bird first seen by Ellyn Corey early in the morning, but first reported by Melanie Barnett later on. When I arrived today at 9:51 AM, Melanie and Joe Heinlein were already watching the bird from the north end of the lake, at 37°26'04.2"N 122°05'41.4"W. I later moved east along the shore to 37°26'03.5"N 122°05'34.6"W, where I was able to get slightly better (though distant) views. Several others, including Susan Weinstein and Dave Weber, arrived soon after, and we later moved to the overlook along the maintenance road to try for better views. We were able to watch the bird briefly before it moved out of sight. (more to be added later) The bird moved around the island, but seemed to frequent the rocks at the NW corner of the island, at 37°25'58.2"N 122°05'36.5"W. I had my best (closest) views from the overlook along the maintenance road, though I was still able to see it from the north end of the lake (views from there were more distant, however).
