Observation details
Great look through binoculars, gray-black hood, yellow underside, was preening on branch and viewed for about 10 seconds. Had never seen this bird before. Got a few bad pictures that show the defined gray hood, the dark face and eye, the pink feet, short tail and yellow rump. Ruled out Macgillivray’s based on lack of white eyering. He was in a thicket of holly bushes and cherry laurel and I initially heard unfamiliar soft singing that got my attention.
