Observation details
Mary Trombley helped me get on this bird. Thanks Mary. Eighteen years sinse my last sighting of a perched Nighthawk. This was pretty special. I've seen Nighthawks many times but always in flight. The only other time I've seen a perched Nighthawk was during my first birding field trip led by Caleb Putnam in 2006. That was in the UP - same trip as the Connecticut Warbler and nesting Black-backed Woodpecker.
