Observation details
First time observing this bird for myself and Angela. Big thanks to the original observer, Steve Grundwald for sharing and Chester heroes Ross G and Jeff K. for their early morning confirmation yesterday. The bird was heard first and identified by Angela. It was hanging low in the shrubs on either side of the trail at 40.0896310, -75.4550169. Bird is small and was initially giving call note “pzeer” but then flew down hill and started to sing in full sequence for about 10 minutes. Came back up the hill into the trail and began to forge for bugs. Yellow at base of bill and spotted breast combined with call were enough to confirm. With this being the first time it has been observed by us, no point of practiced comparison on the “reddish” was on tail and wings as compared to a HETH. Life changing morning with this bird especially since it was experienced with a great friend. Jason’s write-up captures the experience well. Fantastic bird and fantastic early morning birding buddy.
