Observation details
I had heard a report of someone photographing the bird as it stood on the plastic wrapped hay bales beside the Tim Hortons on Main Rd at 10:00 AM. When I arrived mid-afternoon, I noticed just to the north there was a farm with cattle in a small corral and I remembered seeing Eurasian Oystercatcher in the Netherlands in cattle pastures. So, I decided to check the fields to the east. I crossed the snow dumps behind Tim Hortons, and climbed the small hill behind them, giving me a view of the fields to the east that are not visible from the road. I spotted the bird just beyond the fence line on the north side of a horse track ellipse . Others joined me and we watched it eating worms for quite a few minutes before it flew north into the field immediately in front of us, i.e. closer to the cattle. It was still feeding there when I left. Photos to follow.
