Observation details
This is a black bird with yellow tail feathers, slightly visible in the picture. I was quite surprised to see this bird when I stepped out, size in between that of a robin and sparrow. The black and yellow colors were striking, and when first seen I thought it was a yellow-winged blackbird, but when it appeared in full view, the yellow was only on the tail, not the wing bars. This bird was also acting strange, like it was trying to get through the lattice and under our porch, fluttering in front of the lattice. Perhaps a nesting situation? My check in the bird books and Merlin app didn't provide a definitive answer, so I hope a reviewer can help.
