Observation details
This individual had the tail and underwing feathers of a juvenile bird, but the body feathers of an adult. The field guide says this would make it a 1st summer bird, but that would mean mean its parents were nesting in March (or earlier.) It's probably more likely this bird fledged very late last year and held onto its juvenile feathers over winter.
